This is a work from 1997 by Kumazawa Ryoson, who has a devoted following. Ryoson's Kinki features a bold, lacquer-rich finish, making it a style I particularly admire. The wood is an elegant white tiger-stripe grain, representing the finest material.
Ryoson's meticulously crafted peaces, finished with great care and attention to detail, possesses an elegance and dignity that rivals the allure of a gemstone.
Mikura Tsuge peacock figured Heaped pieces
[By Kikusui, Sofu-gonomi]
[掬水作・宗歩好]
Price : 850,000 JPY
Product ID:C102
This is an early work by Kikusui, a modern master craftsman. It features rare Mikura peacock wood, distinguished by its finer grain and deeper color compared to Satsuma wood. The typeface is the popular Sohu-gonomi. Beyond the amber luster gained through aging, it features a slightly larger build.
I have never seen such a large piece in Kikusui's work. Its brilliance, color, the wood's age, and the inherent beauty of the natural wood are all superb. It is a truly exceptional piece, possessing a remarkable presence rarely seen these days.

[久徳作・王羲之]

Over 50 years ago, when I was searching for artisans in Tend?, the foremost name in craftsmanship was undoubtedly Kyutoku Ito (1918?1997). I was captivated by his painstakingly meticulous work and his earnest, sincere character, commissioning him to create numerous pieces using our shop's wood.
The elegant, misty white of Mikura tsuge, paired with the flowing brushwork of Ohgishi. Sparkling, cloud-like patterns adorn the surface, creating a work of breathtaking elegance.
